The refugees in Erlangen are housed in accommodations provided by the Government of Middle Franconia and social services department (social security office) of Erlangen. There are as well as initial reception institutions (emergency shelters), but also collective living quarters, where asylum seekers live until their asylum application is recognised. According to the Bavarian law the refugees are obliged to live in collective living quarters, until their asylum application is recognised and admitted.
